Job Description:

This role involves working closely with internal and external customers to design, develop, and deploy AWS Cloud architectures that meet system requirements. The candidate will be involved throughout the systems development lifecycle, including pursuit, developing a technical baseline, defining requirements, system-level software design, integration support, system-level testing, and selloff. Serve as technical expert in latest industry trends, tools and methodologies to continuously improve the delivery of our solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Interact directly with program and customer to shape, define, and scope cloud solutions.
- Participate in a development team that uses agile methodologies combined with mature software practices and a technology-supported development infrastructure.
- Develop new software, adapt old software, and extend an existing software baseline to implement new capabilities and to mature existing capabilities using key enabling technologies and frameworks.
- Work with team lead to help decompose the work needed to implement new features or address defects within the operational software.
- Work with the development team using agile methodologies combined with mature software practices and a technology-supported development infrastructure.
- Maintain cognizance of industry tools, best practices, and procedures.
- Communicate with leadership on status, issues, milestones, and successes.
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain a High-Risk NOAA Public Trust clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant software experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related software experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related software experience.
- Cloud Architecture and Infrastructure
- Experience architecting software solutions in AWS using Amazon Web Services (Lambda, SQS/SNS, RDS, DynamoDB, SageMaker, NeptuneDB, ECS)
- Experience with Cloud Infrastructure Deployment and Automation
- Designing and implementing Cloud Operating Systems for VMs and Containers
- Programming and Development
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or typescript
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies
- Containerization and Orchestration
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker
- Knowledge of EKS and container orchestration
- Understanding of Linux optimization for containers and security best practices
- Automation and Configuration Management
- Strong CDK including CDK in a multi-account and A/B environment
- Experience with deployment management and versioning
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Development and integration of satellite ground systems
- AWS Cloud certification(s)
