Job Description:
This position is working primarily with the RS-25 liquid rocket engine in support of the Artemis program for NASA. Approves production records for conformance to procedures. Responsible for ensuring safety, reliability and hardware traceability for end-item systems and mission solutions through production quality oversight. Routinely interfaces with customer representatives.
This position may also support Kennedy Space Center when the Artemis vehicle is there. Travel may be from one to three weeks at a time, depending on the needs of our customer.
Essential Functions:
- Perform in-process, final, and rework related inspections
- Work from blueprints, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists Work with diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, etc
- Accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures
- Use various measuring devices
- Demonstrate proficiency with quality standards, techniques, tools and equipment used in the inspection process
- May inspect customer-owned materials, hardware, etc. for compliance to specifications, drawings, workmanship standards and to the customer’s contract or purchase order
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior quality inspection experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of quality inspection experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiar with processes that involve human safety, such as airworthiness of aircraft or human spaceflight.
- Knowledge of using and verifying measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, torque wrenches, etc.
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification.
- NDT Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) Level II Certification
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).
- Knowledge of continuous improvement practices.
