Job Description:
We are seeking an Engineering Technician (NDT) Level C to work at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL, which will be our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware. Work schedule will be driven by unit operation requirements but will be on a 9/80 basis.
The Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Engineering Technician performs non-destructive radiographic (X-Ray) tests on various materials and products. Set-up and maintain equipment and assure calibration for tests to be performed. Conduct inspections of materials, parts, and assemblies using automated and manual methods and techniques as well as radiographic (X-Ray). Interpret, evaluate, and report test results of specific products.
Essential Functions:
- Read and interpret information from planning documents, drawings and specifications, engineering orders, and inspection procedures
- Develop work instructions from approved general procedures
- Works with higher level NDT engineers to establish radiographic (X-Ray) inspection procedures
- Set up and operate industrial radiographic (X-Ray) and film processing equipment
- Using radiographic (X-Ray) techniques, detect and identify defects affecting quality and safety factors such as cracks, inclusions, segregations, cavities, undercuts, draws, incomplete fusion and porosity
- Determine the acceptability of items having marginal defects and reject those that do not comply with required standards and specifications
- Setting up and calibrating equipment with limited oversight from higher level NDT engineers
- Prepares components for non-destructive testing inspection utilizing available equipment and processes
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

- Certification as a Level 2 Radiographic Inspector, ASNT/NAS410 or equivalent
- Knowledge of Applicable laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations
- Knowledge of the Techniques, tools, and equipment used in the inspection process
- Knowledge of Non-destructive testing methods
- Ability to interpret Engineering specifications, drawings, blueprints, production plans, and/or work instructions
