Job Description:
The Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for establishing and sustaining the processes and procedures to ensure that products conform to defined requirements. Position requirements include early stage engagement with new product introduction teams to develop performance requirements, product qualification/validation strategies, and executable validation and test programs to assure long term product quality. The Lead Quality Engineer will also drive continuous process improvement initiatives by applying the key principles of Lean Six Sigma, play a key role in support of the Quality Management System and CMMI Management System and be responsible to provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership across the organization to ensure alignment and compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS), ISO standard, and customer contract requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control.
- Ensure that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
- Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Perform trend analysis of defects. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
- Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
- Recommend and as needed lead corrective actions, dispositions, and modifications.
- Lead and perform Internal Audits to ensure compliance to QMS, ISO Standards, CMMI, and other customer contractual requirements.
- Organize periodic Management Review meetings.
- Contract Review and flow down of requirements to the supply chain and functional groups.
- Lead Material Review Board and Corrective Action Board, including disposition of non-conforming hardware, containment requirements, root cause and corrective action to prevent recurrence and evaluate effectiveness.
- As needed provide other sites within Division and Sector Software Quality and QMS support.
- Perform As-Built verifications and work with Configuration Management to assist with hardware flow.
- Advanced product Quality Planning, SPC, Predictive Quality methodologies, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, problem solving methodologies and Lean Concepts.
- Use Six Sigma & Lean concepts for supplier improvement of quality metrics
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires strong knowledge of job area.
- May have broad knowledge of project management.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in Software Quality Assurance.
- Experience maintaining ISO 9001 & CMMI compliance.
- Strong statistical and analytical experience with application to quality improvement
- Strong knowledge and prior experience working with Federal Department of Defense (DOD)/US Navy/Military (MIL), etc., and government contracting requirements.
- Must be a US Citizen
DESIRED SKILLS
- Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows™ interface, Microsoft Office™ package (Microsoft Outlook®, Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft Word®, Microsoft PowerPoint®, Microsoft Access®), Microsoft Project®.
- Strong understanding of Government contracting requirements, such as FAR, ITAR, etc., and demonstrated knowledge of business challenges and opportunities driven by technology and regulations unique to the Defense market.
- Thorough understanding requirements for AS9100 (preferred), ISO 9001, CMMI and ability to lead and conduct internal audits.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and decision making skills.
- Excellent analytical, project management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to exhibit a positive attitude and communicate clearly and effectively, and, most importantly, promote collaboration.
