Job Description:
The Quality Engineer for Nondestructive Inspectionwill beresponsible for inspection of aircraft structure, components and modifications. These tasks will require the ability to work independently and may require supporting off-shift or off-site on an as needed basis.
Essential Functions:
- Requires strong knowledge of NonDestructive Testing, primary method in Eddy Current
- Be capable of testing and obtaining NDI level 2 certifications within six months of hire date
- Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results
- Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique / method
- Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard
- Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and / or supervision to trainees
- Ability to understand the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the methods as used by the employer
- Be capable of developing work instructions from approved general procedures
- Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology
- Have a basic knowledge of aircraft maintenance
Qualifications:
- Meet qualification requirements for certification to NAS410 Level 2
- Must have experience in Nondestructive Testing training and experience in meeting NAS410 Requirements.
- Experience with Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, Penetrant, Ultrasonic and Radiography
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Certifiable to Level 2 in four or more methods of NDI per NAS410 plus added responsibilities or other national certifications or licenses
- Be able to obtain active Secret Clearance after employment
- Be capable of passing DCMA 8210 physical requirements
- Provide documented evidence of meeting NAS410 qualification requirements for level 2 certification, prior to employment
Preferred Additional Skills:
- A&P License or past certificated FAA repairman’s
- MAUS / AUSS system experience
