Job Description:
This position is for an ODA Inspection Unit Member. The successful candidate will join the ODA Inspection UM staff and will be responsible for mentoring and coaching other ODA Inspection staff members in the design, development and implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of company products in compliance with contractual and FAA regulatory requirements. Other responsibilities include training ODA Inspection personnel in the analysis of reported deviations and discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems, pertaining to STC certification projects. This role also involves guiding ODA inspection personnel on investigating the causes of deviations and nonconformities to assist the applicant in the development, disposition, and implementation of corrective action plans. The Inspection UM will be the focal point within ODA and act as a liaison between the ODA Inspection team and engineering, manufacturing, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure approved type design data requirements are met.
Essential Functions:
- Manage certification data files and conduct conformity inspections on FAA STC projects.
- Ensure compliance with the L3Harris ODA Procedures manual and FAA regulatory requirements on STC and MRA projects.
- Complete all FAA conformity documentation related to STC and MRA projects.
- Act as a liaison between the ODA team and applicant on active certification programs.
- Role could require occasional nights and/or weekend work and will require up to 20% travel to off-site locations in support of STC program needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Another combination of education and experience may also be considered. A degree in Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
- Familiarity with the following FAA forms:
- 8120-10 Request for Conformity.
- 8100-1 Conformity Inspection Record
- 8130-9 Statement of Conformity
- 8130-31 Statement of Conformity- Military Aircraft
- 8110-26 Supplemental Type Inspection Report
- Understanding of MCDA certification requirements per FAA Order 8110.101 and AC 20-169
- Complete understanding of aircraft weight and balance to include Chart A, Chart C, and Form F.
- Expertise in various quality systems utilized across the aviation industry.
- Expertise in various inspection methods and procedures outlined within FAA Order 8110.4.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Ten years of experience related to the modification and conformity inspection of aircraft, laboratory test set-up and aircraft parts and assemblies.
- Five years of experience related to aircraft flight operations.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and establishing corrective action plans.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance
- Active status on an ODA Inspection Staff with current ODA authorization.
