Job Description:
The successful candidate will be based at our Goleta, CA office. L3Harris is looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer eager to contribute, learn, and grow in their career. The Software Engineer is responsible for the development of computer software that monitors operation of the data acquisition hardware. The test equipment is configured to operate in many different environments including, factory, depot and maintenance operations, laboratory analysis, aboard ship, etc. The primary focus of the position is user interface (UI) development on Windows and Linux desktop platforms. A candidate with a strong understanding and a skilled eye for user interface design and development is preferred. Additional embedded software and hardware tasks may be assigned, based on the candidate’s skill set.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, documentation, and testing of software used in evaluating and processing data acquisition systems.
- Assist in the development and modification of software and hardware for mission-critical systems.
- Support the analysis, design, and development of software solutions, as well as selecting the necessary tools and technologies.
- Participate in software development tasks, including coding, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure software is integrated effectively and meets required specifications.
- Assist with software configuration management to track version control and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Support design reviews and technical audits to ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements.
- Help to implement and monitor processes to ensure quality and meet schedule goals.
- Participate in collaborative efforts to identify and resolve issues affecting project progress and quality
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent from four-year college or university; and minimum one (1) year of relevant experience is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US. DoD Security Security Clearance
Preferred Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- 1+ years of experience designing and implementing software in C/C++, C# or VB languages
- 1+ years of experience in embedded software development
- 1+ years Linux experience
- 1+ years of experience with Agile development
- Understanding of UI interface, tools and techniques
- Ability to write concise report of findings
- Ability to interpret and communicate engineering plans and specifications
- Strong analytic and communication skills
Other Requirements:
- Travel may be required for several days on short notice via auto/air/rail.
- Testing aboard ship may be required.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $35.58 - $66.35. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
