Job Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
L3Harris Space and Airborne Systems is seeking an experienced ground systems Software Engineer for our Fort Wayne, IN location. As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will lead a software team developing ground control systems for satellite imaging payloads. Your team will be responsible for the complete life cycle of the software, from requirements, design, development, and implementation of algorithms, controls, and subsystems for complex aerospace applications. The role requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic team environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. Our missions support scientific research, national security, and commercial opportunities. We are looking for someone to establish their technical expertise, leadership skills, and innovation to positively impact our mission.
Essential Functions:
- Successfully lead a software team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost/scope/schedule commitments. Provide technical guidance to engineering team members, refine requirements, develop user stories, and collaborate on designs.
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with and lead other engineers to plan and organize the development of our solutions.
- Manage Agile software development projects through the engineering process reviews and process gates. Assesses engineering issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Communicate with leadership on status, issues, milestones, and successes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum 6-9 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4-7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 - 13 years of software experience.
- Experience as software lead on a significant program.
- Experience with requirements analysis, design, code and unit test, integration and test, and requirements sell off.
- Experience with Linux and Windows operating-systems.
- 6-9 years of software development experience in C++ and knowledge of Java, Python, DevOps, Agile.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Background in developing and maintaining satellite control systems
- Knowledge in space domain and applications such as Neptune and VMOC
- Experience with cloud deployment such as AWS
- Fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks
- Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, and Confluence
- Excellent ability to analyze problems and to focus and drive down to the root cause of problems quickly.
- Certified SCRUM Master, Product Owner, or Coach
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
