Job Description: L3Harris Technologies Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer Specialist to join our team in supporting the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) program on the Maintenance of Space Situational Awareness Integrated Capabilities (MOSSAIC) contract.
Essential Functions:
- Strong written, editorial, and verbal skills to create documentation for all phases of Technical Order (TO) development and sustainment process in accordance with MIL-STDs, TO 00-5 series, contract governing artifacts, style guide, and customer requirements related to writing task assignments
- Solid knowledge and understanding of engineering specifications to include engineering drawings, A-level specifications, and test procedures to extrapolate required technical data to integrate into end user technical publications
- Work as part of cross-functional team, made up of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), to accomplish technical writing assignments
- Perform research using technical data or commercial sources and coordinate with system engineers to support technical writing task assignments
- Convert non-editable TOs into Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) format using structured authoring software tagging environment
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and be self-motivated to meet project timelines and deadlines
- Computer proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as editorial usage of Adobe Pro for PDF file manipulation
Qualifications:
- Active SECRET security clearance
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Preferred prior relevant experience would consist of technical documentation development in accordance with MIL-STDs, TO 00-5 series, contract governing artifacts, etc.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Independently interpret and follow written technical instructions and procedures, as well as the ability to work harmoniously in a team environment with government customers and other contractors
- Strong technical background, ability to translate technical and subject matter expert information into written procedural content as required for technical writing task assignments
- Knowledge of SGML and Extensible Markup Language (XML) tagging environment
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat PDF software
- DoD work experience developing and sustaining TO baselines for Air Force and Space Force weapon systems
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $62,000 - $115,000 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
