Job Description:
The Director, PLM transformation (Project Engineering) has responsibility for leading the design, development, testing and deployment of the ecosystem that will be used to execute integrated multi-discipline engineering processes (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Software) through the harnessing of modern digital capabilities.
This position will be responsible forthe cost/schedule/technical aspects of developing & executing the ecosystem architecture. This will include the integration approach of a modern PLM system with systems and software environments as well as ERP and MES systems to deliver improved engineering abilities to rapidly develop and deliver products, and to improve value stream handoffs.
In addition, this role will actively partner with Segment discipline and sector leadership to ensure the technical delivery of highly scalable and performant capabilities supports technical / product roadmap development and mission solution creation.
The Director, PLM Transformation role will be adept at leveraging technology and partnering with technical experts to develop an integrated set of discipline-specific digital strategies to deliver superior mission solutions. This role will define a vision around the strategy, technology and talent that will be core to this initiative. A key area of focus will be partnering with IT to understand the needs of stakeholders across the enterprise to build, grow, and lead a matrixed team to deliver high quality capabilities to promote the Digital experience.
Essential Functions:
- Advance L3Harris’ ability to transition products to the customer more effectively using new design methodology tools (model-based design, digital engineering)
- Assess current state tools and processes, customer requirements and business needs to develop a discipline-specific strategic roadmap, identifying and prioritizing key capabilities to be integrated in the digital thread e.g. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) interfaced into Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and business intelligence tools, etc.
- Complete enterprise maturity assessments for digital engineering implementation
- Mature engineering capabilities to reduce defects, rework, improve productivity, and the ability to update parametric predictive models
- Work closely with IT on the integration of new tools and updates to enterprise platform tools
- Create metrics to demonstrate improved abilities for rapid development and delivery of work products in the value stream
- Creation of a multi-organizational project plan and manage resources effectively to ensure project schedule
- Lead Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) throughout the organization to ensure that the technical aspects of Digital Engineering Deployments meet the technical capability need of the organization and programs.
- Coordinate with various Engineering Centers of Excellence, Sector Chief Engineers, Operations, and IT to ensure the implementations achieve success.
- Promotes modern, model driven methodologies and methods throughout business, driving to achieve the Digital Engineering roadmap.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 15 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics preferred
- Implementation experience in modern technology, architecture, and automation patterns of engineering capabilities
- Experience in development of methods in Systems engineering and/or Hardware engineering;
- Experience with engineering processes and tools beyond the application level.

- Experience integrating and architecting with modular open systems architectures
- Demonstrate independence, creativity and initiative and the ability to master a solid understanding of the digital strategy and its business goals

- Experience with using data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
