Job Description:
L3Harris is looking for a self-starting, team-oriented Senior Software Engineer with subject matter expertise in the Space domain and Astrodynamics field to lead our dynamic software and systems development teams. The selected candidate will be on a key Senior Technical Lead role of a program that is building a large-scale enterprise application in the national security space domain using web technologies, distributed computation and storage frameworks, and sophisticated, cutting-edge domain analytics, with the system hosted on virtualized and cloud-computing platforms. The selected candidate will also provide technical leadership to the team who is performing analysis with software tools, modeling and simulation. The Lead Software SME will guide the software team, program leadership and the customers by aligning development needs with the mission and customer expectations and requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Provide technical direction to software development team by creating models, simulations, and analysis tools to support national security space analysis activities.
- Lead technical planning, design & generation of test data, system integration, verification and validation, and support test activities.
- Responsible for providing expertise and direction to algorithm development, quantitative analysis, orbit determination, decision analysis, capability analysis
- Provide technical guidance in the system engineering requirements analysis and trade studies, analyses of alternatives, design of experiments, and architecture analysis in support of the software development team.
- Provide leadership and foster collaboration with engineers from various engineering disciplines to determine and develop functional and non-functional requirements of new and existing capabilities.
- Providing technical guidance and assisting the development team throughout the software development life cycle.
- Responsible for Customer interfacing to ensure inputs and needs are communicated to the project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables.
- Leads technical exchanges and interactions with customers.
- Performs additional leadership duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- TS/SCI and would need to consent to CI Polygraph security clearance.
- B.S. degree Software, Aerospace, Space Systems or other Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related discipline and minimum of 12 years of prior related experience; or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with working with software development teams and associated Agile development processes.
- Experience with Astrodynamics Software applications.
- Experience in supporting modeling, simulation, and analysis of software systems.
- Experience leading technical teams.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in supporting modeling, simulation, and analysis of national security space related problems desired.
- Experience in national security space operations.
- Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Software: STK/Astrogator/ODTK, Astrodynamics Standards, SOAP.
- Experience with Safe Agile.
- Prior software development experience with Python, Java, MATLAB, RHEL/Linux.
- CI Polygraph
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is VA area is $155,500 - $288,500 and CO $135,000 - $251,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
