Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principle, Program Management to join our Advanced Missile Propulsion & Technologies (AMPT) organization within the Missile Defense and Warheads organization in the Missile Solutions (MSSL) segment. This role is a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
Essential Functions:
- Program Oversight: Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Drives program execution in order to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow for new, continuing, or current programs. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Requires ability to travel on a regular basis (1 multi-day trip per month)
- Contract Negotiation: Participates in the negotiation of contracts and contract changes.
- Proposal Preparation: Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, performance Statement of Work (SOW) and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of the contract.
- Customer Management: Acts as the primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Product Development: Establishes design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration, and test. Expands the product line with the customer.
- Milestone Management: Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules. Identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocating resources or changing contractual specifications.
- Team Leadership: Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas.
- Innovation & Complexity: Responsible for improving upon existing processes or establishing new systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. Develops or champions new concepts or technologies. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are often complex, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple functions and/or businesses. Extensively analyzes problems to seek understanding of the root cause of the problem.
- Impact & Influence: Recommends tactics and strategies that will directly impact the achievement of overall business or functional results. Communicates within and outside of the organization which includes larger customers or vendors. Works to influence others to accept team's view/practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches. Communicates and influences leadership regarding matters of substantial importance to the function or business area. Frequently conducts briefings to senior leaders and customers. Recognized as an internal expert and thought leader in area of expertise with broad experience across multiple job areas.
- Supervision & Leadership: Works under consultative direction against annual goals to manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams. Responsible for establishing educational and training goals for area of expertise and ensuring those goals are achieved. Provides guidance, coaching and training to other employees across the Company within area of expertise. Develops or champions new systems, concepts, or technologies. Recommends tactics and strategies that directly impact the achievement of overall business or functional results. Establishes tactics for group with mid to long-term impact on results (e.g., 2-4 years). Recommends new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of job function strategy.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- Travel as needed up to 15%
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and a minimum of 12 years of prior Program Management experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior Program Management experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior Program Management experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and innovation skills, with the ability to gather comprehensive information, analyze issues, and develop creative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders including customers and vendors.
- Mastery level knowledge within Program Management. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization.
- Experience managing large, complex project initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate within and outside of the organization to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
- Proven ability to make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
- Formal training in Project Management, with PMP certification.
- Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) concepts
- Experience in all phases of project and program management, from proposal and ensuing negotiations through contract award, project planning, project execution and closeout.
- Experience in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) leadership role
- Aerospace or defense development experience
- Experience with liquid, solid, or cold gas propulsion systems
- Experience with warheads or other energetic systems.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the State of California is $153,000 - $284,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
