Job Description:

The Missile Solutions Segment of L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Manager to lead a Quality Engineering team supporting industrial expansion readiness and strategic growth initiatives across our Missile Propulsion sector. This high-impact leadership role is accountable for ensuring that all capacity expansion, production ramp-up, and manufacturing transition activities meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

This position serves as a key interface between Program Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and our customers to maintain L3Harris’s reputation for delivering mission-critical propulsion systems that meet quality and performance requirements. You will lead quality planning, project management, and compliance activities supporting facility expansions, work transfers, advanced manufacturing technology deployment, and process qualifications. The role requires an experienced quality professional who can balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced defense manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in leading complex cross-functional initiatives, overseeing quality requirements for manufacturing expansion, and driving operational readiness for new capabilities and will partner with business leaders to embed quality throughout the lifecycle of expansion projects. This position requires strong technical understanding of propulsion manufacturing processes, advanced project management skills, and the ability to influence at all organizational levels to drive flawless execution of our growth initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead quality strategy and execution for capacity expansion, industrialization, and new production lines across the Missile Propulsion sector.
  • Develop quality planning, readiness criteria, process qualification, and verification/validation strategies for new or modified production lines.
  • Drive risk assessments (PFMEA, process risk analyses) and implement mitigation strategies for new and transitioning manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure metrology, calibration, and inspection systems are capable of supporting expanded capacity.
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to integrate quality requirements into all expansion efforts.
  • Manage quality documentation, configuration control, and First Article Inspection (FAI) execution for new or modified processes.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance capability, reduce defects, and ensure stable production ramp-up.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer-specific quality requirements for new and expanded operations.
  • Up to 25% business travel required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior Quality experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related quality experience.

  • 5 or more years of experience directly managing a Quality Engineering or Quality Teams.

  • 5 or more years experience with project management in a quality organization .

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Strong ability to make decisions in a timely manner and capable of assessing the risks that may result from the decisions being made. Capable of working independently and dynamically with minimum oversight with multiple and/or changing priorities.
  • BS in an Engineering or Management related discipline.  Master’s in engineering or Business.

  • Demonstrated project management experience supporting cross-functional industrial expansion or complex technical programs.
  • Experience in aerospace & defense quality management.
  • Background in propulsion manufacturing processes (solid rocket motors, energetics, component fabrication, assembly, or test).
  • Demonstrated success supporting new product introduction or manufacturing scale-up efforts.
  • ASQ CMQ/OE or CQE certification.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing principles.

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Minitab.
