Job Description:
Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles, missile defense, and advanced hypersonic propulsion.
The Facilities Engineer under general direction, recommends approaches to building, sturctural, civil, architechtural and HVAC system design, control systems, operations, and maintenance. Provides technical leadership in developing, planning, and managing building design and construction projects. Prepares plans and specifications for facility projects. Prepares preliminary designs and project cost estimates with strong Project Management skills. Teams with engineers and project managers on special projects. Provides technical leadership within workgroups or projects as required. Reviews drawings, specifications and procedures for accuracy and acceptability. Reviews construction management schedules and budget processes. May direct construction projects, or other projects such as office layouts, relocation of furniture and equipment, etc.
Essential Functions:
- 40% - Construction concept and design to required conformance codes and policies.
- 20% - Assist in preparing project drawings, specifications and scope-of-work.
- 20% - Assist in estimating project costs and/or prepare capital expenditure requests, justification Narratives and fiscal documents.
- 10% - Preparing purchase requisitions for respective projects, tracking project costs, and other administrational matters.
- 10% - Other required duties as assigned.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior facilities engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior facilities engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior facilities engineering experience.
- Candidates must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to meet Facility Department objectives.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Ability to prepare, present and articulate projects with Microsoft Suite of applications.
- Familiarity with International Building Code (IBC) is desired.
- DoD 4145 contractor safety is a plus.
- Experience with containments and explosives a plus.
- Technical writing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communications skills.
- Project planning and management of schedule and cost.
- Proficient with AutoCAD desired.
