About the role
Join L3Harris Communications Australia’s Global Field Services team supporting Asia Pacific programs. As a Specialist Applications Engineer, you will implement tactical RF and IP Networked Systems designed by senior engineers. This role involves system design support, installation, maintenance, and training for APAC and international programs, including bids, demonstrations, and tradeshows. You will collaborate with engineers, sales, program managers, and customers in a dynamic environment based in Brisbane with domestic and international travel.
What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Provide field and office technical support for HF, VHF, UHF, and SHF RF tactical radio communications.
- Guide and train customers on operation, maintenance, and inspection of communication systems.
- Deliver operational solutions ensuring system quality and effectiveness.
- Offer pre-sale and post-sale technical support for company products and systems.
- Prepare and interpret technical designs, specifications, and presentations.
- Support minor system design tailored to customer needs.
- Troubleshoot, install, configure, maintain, repair, and modify customer equipment and software.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or equivalent.
- Military Communications experience essential.
- Field engineering experience with tactical radio equipment including training, operation, fault finding and basic maintenance of military communications equipment.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Proven written and oral communication skills to provide reports and briefings to the customer.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Hold current Commonwealth of Australia security clearance, minimum Negative Vetting (NV1).
- Eligible for access to Commonwealth Defence facilities.
- Able to work independently for long periods at isolated sites.
- Experienced in operating, configuring, and troubleshooting military tactical communication systems.
- Skilled in using Battle Management Systems.
- Physically able to carry up to 20 kg.
- Willing to work at heights and obtain qualifications.
- Available for extensive domestic and international travel.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and after-hours as needed.
- Field Service Premiums apply for tasks over 31 days.
