About the role

Our team in Eight-Mile Plains are seeking a Electronics/PCB Design Engineer to join them. In this role, you will design, develop, and support innovative electronic hardware solutions, working across schematic capture, PCB design, prototyping, testing, and production support in a collaborative engineering environment.

What role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Design, development and prototyping of new power and control circuits, including programmable logic devices, or design modification of existing products, from concept through to production.
  • Generate DC schematic diagrams and layout DC PCBs using Altium.
  • Creation of DC power budgets to track power consumption.
  • Review DC designs, analyses, and documentation produced by other engineers, while ensuring adherence to the Engineering Change Process.
  • Selection and management of subcontractors for DC PCB substrate manufacture and population.
  • Perform part stress analysis and reliability predictions.
  • Define, derive, and verify compliance against performance specifications.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, making informed trade-off decisions and escalating where appropriate.
  • Documentation of product design either directly or through supervision of contractors or drawing office staff as appropriate.
  • Generate a bill of materials for entry into the ERP system.
  • Work with Procurement to source and procure parts required for prototypes/production.
  • Support Procurement activities by defining component requirements, evaluating suppliers, and approving substitutions or changes.
  • Review project schedules and meet financial and time constraints.
  • Provide clear and concise technical reporting to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Provide specialist Electrical Engineering advice to other engineers and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Contribute to bid and proposal activities by providing technical inputs, risk assessments, and estimates.
  • Participate in internal company process e.g. non-conformance reports, failure reports, etc.
  • Develop and review manufacturing documentation, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure designs meet quality, reliability, and manufacturability requirements in accordance with AS9100 and internal quality systems.

What you’ll bring

The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years’ prior relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Eligible for registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ).
  • Experience in generating DC schematic diagrams and DC PCB layouts with Altium (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:       

  • Expert knowledge of Altium for generating DC schematic diagrams and DC PCB layouts
  • Experience with designing for and testing EMI/EMC compliance
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and developing assembly and test documentation for operation in a production environment
  • Experience with a production environment
