About the Opportunity:

Trenchant is an elite global team of engineers and security researchers charged with building world-class computer security products. .Trenchant is a a key component of L3Harris’ Intelligence and Cyber International Division. We are a trusted, discrete partner furnishing security products, consultancy, training and integration services to allied security, defence, and law enforcement agencies.

Reporting to the Division’s Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver the following key outcomes:

  • Meet all internal and external reporting deadlines with accurate and comprehensive financial analysis.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach with functional leaders through a clear understanding of cost drivers and accurate cost forecasting.
  • Provide timely, insightful variance analysis against budgets and forecasts to support informed decision-making.
  • Consistently operate with integrity and uphold the highest ethical and professional standards.

Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for a broad range of financial and operational duties, including but not limited to:

  • Mentoring and supervising the Assistant Accountant. 
  • Maintain all financial records, including sales and purchase invoices, cash transactions, and general journals.
  • Review and submit indirect tax and GST filings, ensuring compliance across Australia, New Zealand, UK and Canada.
  • Reconcile and review all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and associated reporting.
  • Oversee credit control activities and provide regular reporting on debtor ageing and status.
  • Review detailed payroll data from external providers to ensure accuracy and manage related tax submissions and employee queries.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements.
  • Submit accurate monthly actuals and supplemental data into the Oracle Hyperion Financial Management system, ensuring adherence to L3Harris group deadlines.
  • Review statutory reports on a monthly and quarterly basis for compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintain and reconcile the rolling cash flow forecast.
  • Support the Financial Controller with corporate tax compliance, external audits, and preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders and the FP&A team to analyse expenditure, explain variances, and contribute to forecast updates.
  • Assist in the documentation, development, and implementation of finance policies and procedures, including those related to SOX and FCPA compliance.
  • Participate in system testing and upgrades for the Deltek CostPoint ERP system.
  • Provide support across other areas of the finance function as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

AU or NZ citizenship required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA qualification (or equivalent) is required.
  • 5–7 years of commercial accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Prior experience with Deltek CostPoint is advantageous but not a requirement.
