About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Planner to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations while meeting customer demand. The ideal candidate will have strong organization skills, experience in production planning and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Work Order & Production Scheduling
- Maintain Work Order (WO) date integrity, adjusting in the system based on MRP suggestions and shortage situations
- Analyze Material Availability reports and take action to ensure WOs start on time
- Open, release and close manufacturing Work Orders while ensuring data accuracy
- Review and execute planning responsibilities for Kanban processes
- Inventory & Material Coordination
- Collaborate with the Inventory Control Group (stockroom) on material requirements kitting, POU replenishment and material movement
- Communicate with Purchasing to provide visibility on component shortages for upcoming WOs
- Monitor Point-of-Use inventory accuracy, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Support and complete monthly cycle counts and annual WIP counts
- Cross-Functional Communication & Reporting
- Coordinate and negotiate schedule recovery dates with Production Supervisors to maintain on-time Work Order completion
- Provide critical updates to the Master Scheduler on delays impacting customer order completion
- Generate weekly reports on WO completion rates for assigned work centers
- Monitor workflow between production cells and other departments, ensuring seamless operations
- Contribute scheduling insights to daily Operations Status meetings
- Engineering & Product Changes
- Direct and coordinate all activities related to the implementation of engineering changes (ECR, ECO)
- Implement product changes within the MRP system and track inventory consumption
- Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Support Continuous Improement (CI) and Kaizen initiatives to enhance operations efficiency
- Provide weekly metrics related to on-time WO completions along with root cause
- Analyze production data and Team Key Results (TKRs) to improve planning accuracy
- Review and update department documentation
- Assist the work center supervisor with capacity planning for assigned work orders and feedback information to the Master Schedulers for consistent improvement in factory scheduling
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Management, Operations Management, Business, or a related field
- OR 4+ years of progressive experience in Production Planning within an MRPII environment
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Data analysis skills with experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI
- Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) and MRP principles
- Familiarity with change planning (ECO, ECR)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or defense industries
- Experience managing engineering changes within planning organization
- APICS (CPIM) or similar certification is a plus
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and process improvement methodologies
