Job Summary An Associate Manager for the Maritime Power Systems Division, Tulsa location, is responsible for the management of an operations function. Directs the development and implementation of activities in fabrication area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. This individual will report to the site Maritime Power Systems Sr. Mgr. of Operations.
Essential Job Functions & Duties
- Direct work of employees to meet quality and on-time delivery requirements; address production challenges and communicate to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet cost, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, EHS, and continuous improvement commitments
- Develop, implement and sustain success metrics, incorporating best practices, and effectively communicating improvements
- Plan and initiate appropriate action, as possible, for recovery from fabrication cost overruns.
- Review and issue drawings, including revisions, to the Shop floor in a timely manner, as well as monitor standard vs. actual hours being used in relation to the current budget.
- Monitor training requirements and schedule staff training.
- Requisition replacement or additional machinery, tools, dies or fixtures as may be justified for improved productivity, cost savings, or cost avoidance.
- Monitor team productivity and provide performance evaluations, constructive feedback, mentorship, and discipline as needed
- Drive continuous improvement and employee engagement through:
- Leader of standard work
- Factory Gemba walk process
- Quality improvements and zero defect strategies
- Comprehensive, proactive safety initiatives
- Lean deployment
- Mistake Proofing / Poke Yoke
- 5S+1
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
- Collaborate with Program Management, Supply Chain, and other functional organizations across the Philadelphia Site to manage product flow
- Consult with Operations Leadership on pertinent matters and obtain input and approval on pending matters
- Ability to work O/T and weekends as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree with a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with Inert-Gas Shielded Metal Arc Process (TIG) for Aluminum, and/or (MIG/TIG) Mild and/or Stainless Steel as required to support specific product lines
- Working knowledge of welding equipment controls for both processing and safety
- Experience with CNC Machining
- Experience in an Operations function leadership role
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient print interpretation specific to weld symbols and application.
- Proven ability to identify performance issues and implement the necessary changes in a timely and effective manner
- Good technical skills to recognize and solve assembly and related production problems to maintain workflow
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing methods, lean methodology, production planning, quality management systems
