Job Description:
The Specialist, Production Planning is responsible for the development and execution of production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products and services. This role involves close collaboration with various departments, including manufacturing, supply chain, quality assurance, and engineering, to optimize production efficiency and meet customer demands.
Essential Functions:
- Develop detailed production plans and schedules based on demand forecasts, resource availability, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the timely availability of materials and components required for production.
- Monitor production progress against schedules, identify potential delays or bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to optimize workflow and production processes for maximum efficiency.
- Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement in the production cycle.
- Work with the engineering and quality assurance teams to ensure that product specifications and quality standards are met.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding production status, inventory levels, and any issues impacting production or delivery timelines.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align production planning with overall business objectives and strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including material consumption, labor hours, and output levels.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing insights and recommendations based on production performance data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflow.
- Proficiency with production planning software and tools, such as ERP/MRP systems.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
