Job Description:
L3Harris is actively seeking a Project Engineer (PE) to support our Systems Engineering organization in Salt Lake City, UT. The PE will lead cutting-edge cryptographic module development as well as the customer program associated with NSA certification. The PE is responsible for the execution of the technical portion of the IRAD/program and acts as the technical Point of Contact to internal and external customers. The PE operates under the direction of the Program Manager (PM), Engineering Leadership, and the Business Area Chief Engineer (BACE). This includes but is not limited to:
- Planning and execution of IRAD/program activities
- Documenting and approval of IRAD/program plans
- Ensuring life cycle process adherence
- Risk identification and management
- Overall IRAD/program coordination
The Engineering Functional Leads (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, FPGA Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Security Engineering, etc.) report to/and take direction from the PE for the IRAD/program.
Essential Functions:
- Program Planning, Guidance, and Execution – Work with program management to develop the program execution schedule, effectively communicate with the entire program team, and guide the team through the execution of all required tasking to complete the contract while adhering to the development lifecycle process
- Staffing Management – Oversee engineering staffing and work with management to adjust staffing levels as needed
- Employee Development – Mentor less experienced engineers in the area of Project Engineering
- Subject Matter Expert – Be the technical point of contact for internal and external queries related to the IRAD and certification program
- Proposal Execution – Lead role in developing responses for internal requests for information, request for proposal (RFP) and new business development pursuits, including on-site and off-site technical interchange meetings and technical capability demonstrations
- Communication – Develop well-organized presentations and have strong communication skills to present to internal and external customers
- Manage multiple projects at one time
- Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional travel
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
- Active Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with cost account and project engineering management
- Familiarity with cryptographic architecture and NSA certification
- Proficient with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, such as Teamcenter and SharePoint
- Detail oriented and organized
- Demonstrated self-starter
- Proven track record of highly collaborative working skills in a diverse team environment
- Possess the willingness to mentor Engineers in the art of leading a new design development
- Ability to learn new subjects / techniques / software, without, necessarily, the assistance of others
- Active Top Secret clearance
