Job Description:
Act as Project Manager, leading Engineering projects that develop custom communications systems, centered around tactical radio and networking solutions, that satisfy specific customer requirements for critical military communications. Lead Operation’s cross functional New Products Introduction team(s) to introduce new products from concept to production ramp including prototype build as well as transition to high volume focus factories.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing and coordinating activities between functional groups such as Design Engineering, Process Engineering, Test Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations.
- Working with each functional group to identify, prioritize, and act on meeting project timelines and risk management.
- Working with Finance and Supply Chain groups to develop cost structures and models.
- Lead Operations team in developing and implementing product transfer plans.
- Analyze and monitor key performance indicators, deliverables, and report out on project progress.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the day-to-day tactical duties for assigned programs.
- Oversees and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.
- Serves as single point-of-contact between engineering project management and planning, engineering project team, and line management.
- Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
- Assesses engineering project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.
- Develops mechanisms for monitoring engineering project progress and for intervention and problem solving with engineering project managers, line managers, and customers.
- Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
- May conduct performance/project analyses during phase-down to benefit future/other engineering projects, missions, and programs.
Qualifications:
- Requires strong knowledge of job area. Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in Project Engineering.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Configuration Management software (Agile preferred)
- Experience in DFM analysis and implementation for volume manufacturing
- Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools
- Utilize or understand modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct tests, and evaluate results
- Ability to work autonomously and with others to resolve technical issues
- Experience in Project Management or Project Engineering
- Experience with Microsoft Project or another project management tool Ability to adapt project plans, schedules throughout the project to respond to changing requirements.
- Able to support multiple cross-functional project tracks concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to escalate issues to senior level management
- Comfortable working with cross functional subject matter experts to achieve expected deliverables
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and collaborative team player
- Confidence in conflict solving ability
- MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, MS Project or similar)
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $90,500 - $168,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
