What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Taking a leading role in the development of all software engineering processes; covering Agile approaches, configuration control, safety related development, improvement and evolution of process and procedure.
- Set clear standards and procedures for the software aspects of project development and delivery, tracking project progress and generating reports to stakeholders.
- Being technical point of contact for other team members.
- Leading design and code reviews.
- Supporting implementation of Change in a controlled manner to cost and schedule.
- Acting as the Software Technical Authority on ASV View 8 project covering resource allocation in Teams, estimation, progress tracking, client liaison on Software Engineering issues, develop initiatives to improve quality and productivity.
- Managing and developing a team of software engineers, fostering great communication between team members and vertically through the organisation.
- Ensure that the team has appropriate technical competencies, skills and behaviors and developing the team to support future growth and technology/product roadmaps.
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Software Engineering role, ideally able to demonstrate being a senior member of the team either leading or supporting other engineers.
- Experienced C++ developer.
- Experience of leading and making improvements to software development methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall) and processes.
- Experience in configuration control and change processing.
- Experience of leading software engineering development projects through the software lifecycle
- Experience of marine engineering projects, or those in related industries, would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Knowledge of Autonomous Systems would be advantageous but not essential.
