Job Description:

Senior Sector Continuous Improvement Leader for L3Harris’ Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconaissance.  Responsible for leading e3 (excellence, everywhere, every day) our continuous improvement operating system, operations analytics, new product development and management operating system deployment across three locations.  Develop short term plans and long term strategies that drive a one operations organization vision to ensure perfect delivery, quality and safety, while achieving additional operations and financial objectives. Position reports directly to the Sector Vice President of Operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Working with sector and segment operations leaders to develop and execute an e3 strategy.
  • Lead strategic goal deployment process (Hoshin Kanri)
  • Drive directed new business modeling for effiiency and productivity
  • Conduct lean /Operational excellence assessments and create site level roadmaps
  • Establish and optimize organizational construct and own talent development for e3 function
  • Establish goals, set timelines and achievement of milestones.
  • Manage and report e3 project portfolio status to Operations and Business/Functional management, including preparation of financials and presentation materials.
  • Responsible for achieving assigned financial and key performance indicators/metrics.
  • Grow the next generation of belt/lean trained employees through training, mentoring, and targeted learning/knowledge transfer opportunities.
  • Implement a sector sales and operations planning process
  • Work with manufacturing, supply chain and quality to implement product standard work
  • Drive a robust e3 roadmap to meet financial commitments and a kaizen schedule to address top operational opportunities
  • Partner with supply chain to drive supplier performance improvements
  • Execute standard operations management operating system, manage all operations scorecards and analytics
  • Key leader on the executive corrective action boards for quality and safety
  • Develop operations leader standard work and gemba walk processes

Qualifications:

  • Requires advanced business knowledge, general management and leadership capability to lead business area or functional teams. Typically has broad experience across multiple related professional disciplines within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization’s business practices. Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
  • BS Degree (technical degree preferred, i.e. Engineering)
  • MS Degree preferred, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years leading continuous improvement teams and operating systems; 5+ years strategic goal deployment experience within Aerospace/Defense Industry.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Lean expert trained and certified with a proven track record of achieving sustainable results
  • Proven continuous improvement track record for transformational change and lean deployment
  • Experience deploying continuous improvement operating systems in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Sales and operations planning
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work and/or lead multiple projects with limited direction.
  • Working knowledge of business functions and understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives.
  • Relationship management experience in a cross-functional program/IPT team environment with a demonstrated ability to bring peers and partners together for the ultimate “buy-in” and successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Action oriented, demonstrate superior organizational abilities, have strong facilitation, negotiation, team building and excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Familiar with quality analysis techniques (statistical analysis, quality function deployment, problem solving, and decision making). 
  • Ability to balance tactical and strategic thinking and processes with demonstrated skill at translating strategy into specific goals, tactics, action plans and deliverables while effectively communicating across broad audiences with varied skills and disciplines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to build a business case, analyze the results and effectively communicate the status/outcom
