Job Description:
The Maritime Power & Energy Systems (MPES) Supplier Development Engineer, reports to the Sr. Manager, IMS Supplier Development. The Supplier Development Engineer will work with a defined deck of suppliers to improve supplier performance by driving a preventive, zero defect culture of quality, supplier excellence and customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
This position will have responsibilities and perform tasks in the following areas:
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to execute commodity sourcing strategies that can withstand business disruption.
- Work with Supply Chain to support the Get to Green initiatives.
- Support MPES divisions with new supplier assessments, source inspections, FAI’s, etc. as required.
- Manage a defined group of suppliers including Supplier ZDP and APQP for the assigned supplier deck.
- Implement IMS policies, procedures and standards for Supplier Development that drive a preventive, zero defect culture of quality, supplier excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), SPC, Predictive Quality methodologies, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Six Sigma and Lean Concepts to drive supplier improvements.
- Lead RCCA activities for systemic quality issues and complete on-site corrective action validation and effectiveness.
- Train, mentor and evaluate RCCA responses for robustness.
- Conduct on-site quality system assessments.
- Deliver quality tools training to our supply base and our internal Supplier Quality professionals.
- Provide input to the annual operating plans and business strategies for the Supplier Development organization.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Travel as required, up to 60%.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or technical field with 6+ years of experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in supplier development, operations, supply chain and/or quality.
- APQP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) experience required.
- Subject Matter Expert in Zero Defect Plans including data analysis, supplier reactive work and supplier proactive work.
- Proven problem-solving experience including 8D – containment, defining the problem, root cause analysis, corrective action and reach across
- AS9100 / ISO9001 quality system and process audit experience required.
- Experience with APQP approved.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAI, AS9102 experience
- Lean Manufacturing experience and certification
- Six Sigma Black Belt and/or RedX experience and certification
- APQP, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan and MSA experience
