Job Summary:

This positon is a front line manufacturing manager for the Maritime Power Systems Division, Philadelphia location, and responsible for the repair, overhaul, assembly and testing of Circuit Breakers, sub-assemblies and spare part assemblies. Ensures we meet quality control standards while maintaining schedule and cost requirements to meet customer contract requirements. This individual will report to the Maritime Power Systems Sr. Mgr. of Operations in Philadelphia.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Direct work of employees to meet quality and on-time delivery requirements; address production challenges and communicate to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet cost, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, EHS, and continuous improvement commitments
  • Communicate production plans to internal and external customers on a regular cadence
  • Develop, implement and sustain success metrics, incorporating best practices, and effectively communicating improvements
  • Develop Cross Functional B.O.E’s (Basis of Estimate) to created standards for Depot repair efforts
  • Monitor team productivity in comparison to customer approved B.O.E’s and drive performance metrics accordingly
  • Provide performance evaluations, constructive feedback, mentorship, and discipline as needed
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Supply Chain, and other functional organizations across the Philadelphia Site to manage product flow
  • Drive continuous improvement and employee engagement through:
    • Leader of standard work
    • Factory Gemba walk process
    • Quality improvements and zero-defect strategies
    • Comprehensive, proactive safety initiatives
    • Lean deployment
    • Mistake Proofing / Poke Yoke
    • 6S
    • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
    • Value Stream Mapping (VSM)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Associate’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior experience. Or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior manufacturing leadership experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing methods, lean methodology, quality management systems
  • Experience with manufacturing schedules, workflows and production planning
  • Leadership experience with direct reports in a dynamic manufacturing environment
  • An effective communicator at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to identify performance issues and implement the necessary changes in a timely and effective manner
  • Good technical skills to recognize and solve assembly and related production problems to maintain workflow

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience in union environments
