Job Description:

The Specialist, Systems Engineering – RC-135 Simulation Systems oversees the operator/station, datalink, mission management integration, development, upgrades, and use of the Mission Crew Training Simulator (MCTS).  A thorough understanding of the RC-135 mission, aircraft operational capabilities, employment, crew complements, and various supporting ground mission systems is essential. 

Essential Duties:

  • Provides support to RC-135 Rivet Joint aircrew during ground training using the MCTS.
  • Develops and implements training scenarios, specializing in basic operator, datalink, and mission management functions while interacting with the user during aircrew training events. 
  • Operates the MCTS and associated simulation environment generation processors during mission simulations, Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events, and virtual exercises. 
  • Makes recommendations to improve scenario generation software and to resolve equipment problems.
  • Maintains the software used to operate the simulator and performs system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Thorough ability to operate RC-135 mission systems hardware and interpret software performance and platform capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and speak system capabilities to high-level officials.
  • Ability to do periodic shift work depending on customer tasking and periodic travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with four (4) years of prior experience as a qualified RC-135 mission crew member and/or RC-135 mission trainer/management experience.
  • Graduate degree with two (2) years of prior experience as a qualified RC-135 mission crew member and/or RC-135 mission trainer/management experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of eight (8) years prior experience as a qualified RC-135 mission crew member and/or RC-135 mission trainer/management experience.
  • Must have an active Secret DoD Security Clearance at the time of hire, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI and CI polygraph within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification or higher within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in LINUX or UNIX.
  • CompTIA Network+, A+ certification or relative experience.
  • RC-135 Instructor/Evaluator experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
