Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Lead FPGA Electrical Engineer with a desire to work in a cooperative team environment to develop and verify embedded Modem and RF Communication Systems Digital Signal processing solutions in FPGA firmware. As an FPGA Developer, you will be required to analyze requirements, architect, and design FPGA based solutions for Modems, RF Transmission Systems, and Satellite Communication Systems. As an established pioneer in space exploration and military/defense technology, L3Harris is a first-rank engineering and production company. A Secret Security Clearance is required for this position
Essential Functions:
- Ability to analyze system functions and develop FPGA/Firmware processing architecture(s) based on digital technology.
- Map FPGA simulation work products to system-level requirements and capabilities
- Utilize, implement, and validate algorithms in FPGAs and Firmware.
- Work with cross functional teams as needed to define and refine design requirements.
- Assist in development of high-level and detailed verification test plans consistent with system requirements and specifications
- Prepare design and implementation reviews. Present technical briefings and status to internal and external customers.
- Perform detailed analysis including requirements analysis, use case scenarios, conceptual design, trade studies, test, operation, and maintenance of Modems and RF communication products.
- Experience in signal processing for RF communications systems.
- Experience implementing modem and/or DSP circuits in programmable logic using FPGA devices. Equivalent experience in ASIC design is also applicable.
- Candidate must be able to obtain a US security clearance.
- Ability to work efficiently with remotely located teams and co-workers
- Motivated, self-starter, who works well in team environments.
- Solid technical writing skills and ability to communicate technical concepts/solutions both inside and outside of the organization.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Current U.S. security clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Practical knowledge of FPGAs and VHDL design including at least 7 years of direct experience.
- Experience with Xilinx.
- Experience with AXI bus.
- Experience in UVM simulation.
- 5+ years experience with High Complexity FPGA Digital Design Techniques and Devices.
- Experience implementing signal processing algorithms in FPGAs
- Experience in communication system signal processing theory and waveform design
- Experience with Xilinx Vivado, Quartus, MatLab, Simulink or similar DSP modelling tools
- Proficient in FPGA development using VHDL
