Job Description:
Responsible for performing visual and mechanical inspections on materials, equipment, and electromechanical assemblies. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units or systems for in process or final assemblies. Is responsible for successfully validating products and documentation for compliance to all applicable requirements.
Essential Functions:
Perform precision mechanical inspections from dimensioned drawings using calipers, micrometers, surface plate, height gages, gage blocks, gage pins, optical comparator, toolmakers microscope, coordinate measuring machine, and other standard inspection equipment.
Perform visual inspections of electronic assemblies using microscopes & magnifiers.
Perform first article inspections and generate detailed reports when required.
Communicate discrepant findings verbally and via written discrepancy reports to Supplier Quality Engineers/Analysts (SQE/SQA).
Independently perform source inspection at local suppliers.
Participate in MRB meetings to support SQE/SQA’s.
Accurately maintain records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures
Identify risks or wastes within inspection plans. Make recommendations for improvement to supervisor or SQE/SQA.
Identify risks or non-compliances within department’s procedures and policies. Make recommendations to Supply Chain Management to adjust departmental procedures as needed.
Identify equipment needs for jobs requiring new or custom metrology tools.
Identify Dock to Stock (DTS) candidates per established procedures. Present nominations to SQE/SQA.
Work with Receiving Inspection Supervisor to identify jobs where source inspection could be beneficial to help reduce turn-around-time and minimize delays to production floor.
Work closely with buyers, planners, design engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and program leadership.
Support SQE/SQA with routine supplier audits when required.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience maintaining records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures
- IPC-A-610 Certification
