Job Description:
The Quality Technician is part of a multi-disciplinary team planning, developing and implementing quality testing protocols and procedures for the manufacture of laser glass products. This position contributes to ensuring the products and processes involved in the manufacture of these products are compliant with company, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for performing inspections, tests, analyses and/or audits of highly complex developmental products or processes to include laser sub-components, test equipment and fully integrated systems.
- Assists in development and inspection of complex rework and repair of deliverable subassemblies and large system level integrated platforms.
- Approves production records for conformance to procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring safety, reliability and hardware traceability for end-item systems and mission solutions through production quality oversight.
- Collaborates with quality engineers in developing inspection requirements and techniques and implementing quality plans.
- Assists in evaluating defect data to identify trends and collaborates with quality engineers to make recommendations on process improvements.
- Assists with all aspects of assigned program(s) as assigned by the Quality Engineer, including internal quality performance objectives, customer interface, program integrated product team and program supplier quality support.
- Ensures program supplier quality issue resolution through coordination of resources with QC, Purchasing, and Engineering groups.
- Assist in coordinating the Corrective Action Report (CAR) system for customers, suppliers, internal processes and audits.
- Provide training and support to ensure CARs are issued, completed and tracked per schedule and requirements.
- Provide reports and analysis when required.
- Interface with suppliers and other company departments to resolve quality concerns.
- May perform metrology methods to confirm conformance to drawing tolerances.
- Supports and implements added objectives and activities as determined by Quality Management.
Qualifications:
- Fully proficient job knowledge / skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate’s Degree with 2 years of prior related experience.
- 4+ years’ experience working in regulated or standardized Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001:2015 or AS9100
- Must be a United States Citizen
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Understanding of Risk Management principles.
- Creative problem solving.
- Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements
- Knowledge of metrology methods.
- Self-starter, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Possess exceptional communication (both oral and written) and listening skills, with a strong orientation to details, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
- Strong relationship building skills at all levels of an organization and the ability to work effectively across functions within a matrix environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
