Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) will supervise a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne and simulation lab communication platforms. The Lead SE will be a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project engineering and management. They will manage large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction on and off-site. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and present technical results for internal and external program meetings
- Document and support design verification tests within lab, ground and flight test environments.
- Develop, track and present technical metrics
- Evaluate requirements definition, flow-down and traceability
- Analyze data from verification test efforts
- Generate and maintain schedule for engineering activities
- Maintain risk assessment and development of mitigation strategies
- Work closely with Project Engineering and Program Management
- Support training and development of new team members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes
- Experience understanding test, integration, verification, and validation planning
- 8 years of experience writing effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
- 8 years of understanding requirement traceability
- Experience preparing effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Leading projects and or task teams in the integration of systems and or subsytems in airborne and or lab environments
- Experience creating system drawings, schematics and or signal interfaces
- TS/SCI security clearance
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- CI Poly
- Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers
- Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft
- Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware
- Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support
- Security+ Professional Certification
- Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose
- Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process
- Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
- Experience conducting verification testing
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
- Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans
- Willingness to travel (20%)
This position requires the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI Clearance with the ability to maintain it, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
