Job Description:
Integration Mission Systems segment is seeking a Director of Engineering (Test and Integration). The successful candidate will be tasked with leading people and structure while aligning the team to meet the needs of the business, championing implementing a roadmap for adopting new technology to improve capabilities. The Director of Engineering is responsible for directing the Flightline Test and MSTF activities in Greenville Texas support delivery of Aircraft under contract. In addition, they will plan and administer procedures and budgets, lead staff hiring and development and make capital & non-capital budgetary recommendations.
A proven history of effectively partnering with a wide variety of stakeholder groups on Test Engineering strategy and execution within a matrixed corporate context is critical. Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders to include leadership, PMO, HDL Operations and other Engineering functions.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and/or review and approve test engineering bids
- Develop and maintain Test Engineering organization staff to meet current and future business needs, inclusive of quantity and skills / experience
- Champion continuous improvement and cost reduction with sector / segment leadership
- Define and endorse optimal allocation of capital to maximize test capability and productivity
- Develop and deploy Test Engineering process standards, enabling best in class execution, inclusive of quality, schedule and cost performance.
- Plan and manage department level budgets
Job Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Must possess be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Experience in the development and/or review and approval of engineering bids
- 5+ years experience leading an engineering organization, inclusive of hiring and development
- 10+ years experience formulating test engineering plans / procedures and executing test programs
- Prior experience managing department level budgets
- Proficiency in standard tools, such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word
- Strong demonstrated experience and knowledge of Test engineering with a reputation in driving operational excellence and establishing programs, polices, and best practices
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience working across multi-functional teams (program office, engineering, operations and quality assurance)
- Experience in the drafting and submittal of management-level reports.
- Comprehension of test facility purpose and operation, including Systems Integration Labs (SILs) and indoor / outdoor test ranges
- Experience leading root cause / corrective action (RCCA) investigations using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis (5 Whys, fishbone, etc.).
- Experience serving as a change agent for the business, ensuring innovation and development ideas are led to successful implementation.
- Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills from executive to front line levels, with an ability to collaborate with others as well as motivate and manage a team with excellent consultative, influencing, and conflict management.
- Experience working in a DoD environment
