Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineer in Fort Wayne, IN to support a growing missile warning/missile defense business. The ideal candidate for this position will be familiar with the design, development, integration, and testing of ground segment software solutions that support the operation and data processing of remote sensing payloads
L3Harris is looking for Systems Engineers to help design the next generation of space systems as well as improve current on orbit systems.
Essential Functions:
- Support systems engineering trade studies, CONOP development, and modeling/simulation efforts.
- Support the design and development of software architectures that meet mission requirements and constraints.
- Support on-orbit anomaly resolution, telemetry analysis, test report generation, on-orbit FSW and firmware update
- Coordinate with system architects and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of the ground software with other system components
- Develop and improve instrument documentation, processes, and test procedures
- Support concept of operation development and requirements analysis, decomposition, and generation at various levels of the system
- Support requirements traceability and development of test plans to cover requirements
- Support integration and test of electro-optical/infrared systems and related hardware/software
- Provide support to engineering in developing technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans and procedures, and test conformance to specifications
- Support engineering in the verification of compliance to requirements and validate performance behavior
- Utilize work experience to become Subject Matter Expert in the relative area
- Obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with software development languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java
- Experience as part of a multi-discipline technical team
- Knowledge of development and implementation of ground software systems for space-based remote sensors
- Knowledge of spacecraft interfaces for payloads
- Inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team
- Collaboration across all levels of leadership
- With general direction or supervision in a demanding environment
- Experience with data analysis and/or modeling and simulation
- Experience with estimating and managing costs
- Experience architecting, analyzing, developing, and integrating end to end systems in areas such as EO/IR, RF, or space payload and spacecraft bus subsystems
- Knowledge of satellite communication protocols and standards.
- Familiarity with geospatial information systems (GIS) and data visualization tools
- Familiarity with program management, cost account management, integrated product teams
- DoD Security Clearance
