Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager for our Defense Electronics Fuzing and Ordnance Systems (FOS) / Electrodynamics Incorporated (EDI) division located in Cincinnati, OH with support to 3 additional locations in California, Florida, and Ohio. The EHS Manager will lead a team and join a network of EHS professionals around the globe.

The EHS Manager drives the development, organization, administration, enforcement, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Explosives Control programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, county, local, and customer (DoD) requirements.
This role:
- Oversees Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) at Cincinnati, OH and supports 3 additional locations in California, Florida, and Ohio.
- Serves as the subject matter expert in EHS to the Operations, Engineering, and Program Management/Development organizations.
- Serve as the facility’s Explosives Safety Officer. Develop programs and controls to ensure adequate protection of employees. Develop and maintain the facility Explosives Site Safety Plan while ensuring compliance with DoD 4145.26-M and DoD 5100.76-M requirements.
- Reports directly to the Senior Director of Operations for Defense Electronics Systems.
- Manages five direct reports.
- Supported by a network of EHS professionals and corporate leadership.
- Works in an environment that is a mix of manufacturing, engineering, program development, and office activities on a 4-10 schedule, with availability to support additional shifts or programs as required.
Essential Functions:
- Provides hands-on support and guides local operations to success in EHS goals and objectives.
- Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits, risks assessments, etc. and advises management of conditions requiring corrective action and tracks resolutions to an effective closure.
- Ensure dissemination of ownership responsibilities for regulatory, corporate, and internal obligations throughout all business functions. Develop written programs to define and training programs to disseminate these responsibilities. Audit work practices to ensure adherence by employees and enforcement by management.
- Performs and/or facilitates training and safety briefings for all site personnel, visitors and contractors varying from awareness level to task-specific training.
- Drives EHS management of change in current and future processes by partnering with internal and external customers, and supporting contractors to ensure accountability and compliance.
- Supports incident investigations and data/trend analysis to determine root cause, produces and maintains necessary documentation and ensures that all applicable reporting requirements are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Experience with sustaining and improving environmental sustainability programs, e.g., energy, water, waste reporting and reduction initiatives.
- Establishes and maintains necessary contacts with site, county, state, federal regulatory agencies. Regulatory agencies include, but are not limited to: OSHA, ODOH, USEPA, OEPA, HCDES, Clermont County IWPT, Ohio Fire Marshal, Union Township FD, BATFE, DCMA Safety, DCMA Occupational Health, DCMA Property, DOT, IATA, FAA, DSS, and DHS.
- Maintains required records in accordance with regulatory and L3Harris requirements, to include but not limited to site permits and licenses, PPE, training, certifications, inspections, audits, explosives inventory/calculations/limits, etc.
- Completes other similar tasks as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with safety culture change programs and data-driven injury reduction initiatives.
- Proficiency in executing EHS programs in a highly regulated environment.
- Experience in explosives safety / ordnance manufacturing operations, with in depth knowledge of governing requirements.
- Competent computer skills related to Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, along with ability to research technical information as required.
- United States citizen and eligible to obtain SECRET security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Dynamic and active communicator, specifically the ability to personally lead selected projects and communicate with internal stakeholders and external entities.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills working effectively locally and throughout a matrixed environment.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction and prioritization.
- Practical skills and application of Safety, Environmental and Health/ Industrial Hygiene programs such as Lock out Tag out, Machine Guarding, Electrical Safety and Live Work Electrical, Ergonomics, Hazardous Communication/Chemical Safety, Contractor Management, Behavior Based Safety Systems and Emergency Response.
- Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of Gensuite or other EHS common systems, databases and reporting tools.
- Involvement in a high performance programs: VPP, ISO 45001, 14001.
- Training and Certifications: DoD 4145.26-M training, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $88,000.00 MIN - $164,000.00 MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
