What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Providing rapid response, high quality, and low cost manufacturing capability to ICI EMEA customers, both internally and externally
- Effective day to day management of assigned staff, including team briefing, performance appraisals, personal development and succession planning.
- Leading a culture of continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing domain and in support of the wider Operational function.
- Ensuring that the manufacturing working environment is best in class, conforming to the highest standards of Health & Safety, Electrostatic Discharge Management and Security requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining effective manufacturing KPI’s to enable accurate measurement of productivity, customer service (lead time & OTIF), cost reduction, and product quality.
- Driving Quality standards and Right First Time, ensuring that defects are dealt with promptly through segregation, root cause analysis, and corrective / preventative action
- Ensuring that all manufacturing documentation, as built data, files and reports are created and maintained in a timely and accurate manner
- Maximising stock accuracy by ensuring correct and timely inventory transactions and perpetual inventory cycle count schedule adherence
- Ensuring best practice storage, control and flow on direct materials from GI to despatch
- Ensuring compliance to all relevant shipping regulations, e.g. Export Controls, Security Controls, Dangerous Goods and similar.
- Controlling departmental costs against agreed budget.
What you’ll bring
The role of Manufacturing Manager requires the following experience and skills:
- Previous experience of managing a manufacturing facility producing complex, electro-mechanical assemblies in a small to medium volume environment ideally within Aerospace, Defence or Automotive industry sectors.
- Experience with and advocate for Health and Safety Management within the workplace.
- Experienced practitioner in and advocate of Lean Thinking, Six Sigma and similar change management processes
- Experience of applying problem solving tools and methodologies to contain and countermeasure issues and concerns.
- Experienced in strong, effective leadership, mentoring and conflict resolution skills of a team of 10 or more
