Job Description:

Seeking an experienced and detail orientated Senior Trade Desk Manager to develop, oversee and manage our trading desk operations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in avionics and trading, along with excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively develop a department of traders and analysts.

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversee and manage avionics trading desk operations, including market analysis, risk management, trade execution and portfolio management.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize portfolio performance and minimize risk.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, brokers, and other industry professionals.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new trading opportunities and potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on trading activity, portfolio performance and market trends for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Identify, monitor and follow-up aftermarket opportunities with the wider CAS sales teams, including spares, GSE and Data Services.
  • Identify customers’ product needs, inventory shortages or inventory excess.
  • Develop business processes to streamline the movement of equipment thru the organization beyond tradition new order sales processes.  Time is of the essence in this marketplace and traditional order fulfillment is too slow and will cause loss of business.
  • Effectively work across L3H organizational boundaries to create solutions and on time delivery.
  • Support existing L3H sales teams by delivering superior service to existing customers.
  • Coordinate with Global Support team to align consignment stock inventory levels at strategic partner locations to ensure contractual compliance while maintaining world class support capabilities.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to streamline consignment stock recertification activities.
  • Execute inventory transactions within ERP system to maintain validity of consignment stock inventory locations and revenue generation activities.
  • Leverage trade desk to divest excess material and level load consignment stock as a function of global demand utilization.
  • Leverage trade desk to acquire inventory from the market to offset production lead times and/or product obsolescence.
  • Travel as required to achieve position goals, meeting with customers, brokers, spares suppliers, appropriate industry events, etc.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • 10 years of experience in avionics trading desk operations, including market analysis, risk management, trade execution and portfolio management.
  • 10 years of experience negotiating the buying and selling of avionics equipment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

  • Avionics Systems: In-depth knowledge of avionics systems, including communication, surveillance, and automation systems used in aircraft.
  • Market Analysis: Understanding of market trends, including supply and demand, pricing strategies, and competitor analysis in the avionics industry.
  • Financial Management: Ability to manage budgets, analyze financial data, and make informed financial decisions related to avionics trade.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with customers, understanding their needs and delivering solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of regulations and safety standards applicable to avionics trade, including FAA regulations, safety management systems, and quality management systems.
  • Sales and Marketing: Ability to develop sales strategies, create marketing campaigns, and identify business opportunities to maximize sales revenue.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess and manage risks associated with avionics trade, including supply chain risk, financial risk, and reputational risk.
  • Technical Writing: Excellent technical writing skills to create reports, manuals, and proposals, detailing technical aspects of avionics systems and their applications.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage complex avionics projects, including planning, scheduling, and controlling project activities to ensure successful project delivery. Broad knowledge of project management is preferred.
  • Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate a team of avionics professionals, including engineers, technicians, and sales representatives, to achieve business objectives.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Working knowledge of used equipment portals (i.e. ILS, PartsBase, etc…)
