Job Description:

Responsible for the development, implementation, leadership, and measurement of total quality management programs and Continuous Improvements initiatives. Leads projects, provides training, logistical, and infrastructural assistance for quality initiatives. Ensures internal, customer, regulatory and 3rd party requirements are defined, measured, and continuously improved. Leads root cause and corrective action to address product and process non-conformances and compliance gaps.  Drives early cross functional engagement initiatives to ensure quality is built into the design and processes. Is responsible for developing and implementing inspection planning, testing and evaluation methods to verify product repeatability and reproducibility. Develops budget, monitors expenditures, and leads a Quality team or department which may comprise Quality Engineering, Software Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Control, and/or Operational Excellence. May oversee program/project execution through review of proposals and completion of gate reviews.

Effectively manage the quality assurance team to ensure successful implementation and sustainment of L3Harris’ Quality Management System. Effective collaboration with procurement, manufacturing engineering, design engineering and quality assurance is critical to the role.  This position reports to the Operations Manager. 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the ISO9001/AS9100 approved Quality Management System and other contractual quality standards.
  • Lead internal audit activity ensuring compliance to the approved QMS.
  • Drive performance to contract, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Lead the Continuous Improvement program.
  • Lead Material Review Board and implement Corrective / Preventative Action
  • Collaborate with other internal and external customers to meet their quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Responsible for successfully leading and developing a team of high caliber quality professionals.
  • Establishing First Time Quality plans on new programs and Zero-Defect Plans for ongoing production programs. 
  • Develop tactical plans and budgets for labor, resources, and capacity necessary for the Quality organization.
  • Perform all the usual and customary duties related to managing subordinate(s).
  • Provide assistance, direction, and technical guidance relative to Quality issues involving Suppliers and Subcontractors, Manufacturing, Hardware, and Software Engineering.
  • Train and mentor personnel on Inspection techniques and Quality concepts.
  • Develop and conduct functional and business-related risk assessments.
  • Track and report Business Quality Metrics to upper management.
  • Perform trend analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Requires strong knowledge of job area. Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • 4+ years supervisor and management experience.
  • Well versed in AS9100 QMS management.
  • Certified Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Experience in leading Continuous Improvement activities and events.
  • This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a security clearance (secret).  To obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. 
  • ISO9001 and/or AS9100 process audit experience (certification preferred).

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • ASQ certification (CQE, CMQ/OE, and/or CQA).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.
  • Experience with MRP supply & demand requirements.
  • Defense industry experience is preferred. 
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. 
  • Experience with government property inventory management would be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 and 620)
  • Good communicator, self-motivated, attention to detail.
