Job Description:
The Field Engineering Specialist shall provide a wide variety of technical and maintenance support on airframe, avionics systems, and inspections on aircraft. Assists in ground handling of aircraft to include Pre-flight and Post-flight checkout. Field Engineer will be adequately trained for troubleshooting of mission equipment. Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action. Assistance in defining necessary equipment (including piece parts) and technical data to be included in the Primary Mission Support Kits. Implements preventive maintenance programs and keeps performance and maintenance records on equipment. Aircraft reconfiguration assistance in keeping with specific mission requirements.
Essential Functions:
Personnel may be required to deploy with the mission aircraft to Depot Maintenance facility to provide technical support and maintenance assistance.
Position will require travel CONUS and OCONUS.
This is a fulltime, 40 hour+ work week, perform short notice/call duties as required to facilitate aircraft maintenance.
Job Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance which has been investigated within the last six years. Additionally, must be able to maintain all required clearance(s), which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Must have an A&P License.
- Must be able and willing to travel as needed to support the program.
- Must be highly skilled, with a high degree of tact and interpersonal communication skills.
- Position requires daily interface with customers at numerous levels.
- Physical Requirements include lifting, bending, and climbing.
Additional preferred Skills:
- Boeing 757 experience desirable.
- Boeing Narrow Body Aircraft / RB211 engine experience desirable.
- Ability to use Maintenance Information Systems to review maintenance bulletins for quality/accuracy.
- Ability to work alone or within a group.
- Ability to use a wide variety of technical data from OEM manuals to engineering drawings.
