Job Description:

L3Harris Space & Sensors Division is seeking a Senior Manager of Production Planning to plan, schedule, coordinate and/or monitor the final approval of products through the complete production cycle to meet production requirements. In this role you will participate in bids and proposals to ensure alignment of the operations to the customer delivery commitments. The manager works from engineering plans and production specifications to ensure materials are provided according to schedules. The manager may also advise other members of management of the status of work in progress, coordinate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, engineering, program management, and external customers. Through driving the production of control teams with daily cadences to ensure customer deliveries are maintained, this manager will take ownership over escalating issues to senior leadership for both short- and long-term planning needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the production planning and control teams through all areas for EHS, quality, staffing, scheduling, and cost performance
  • Drive operations activities through production planning and Gemba meetings to ensure daily/weekly/monthly production goals are achieved
  • Develop and execute material planning and production control schedules for complex and challenging production builds, ensuring alignment with all functions to keep customer on-time delivery as the priority
  • Maintain production systems’ integrity to drive inventory optimization and minimize cost
  • Establish and lead production planning meetings to ensure alignment of labor and material to SIOP forecasts while collaborating with all functions for resources needed
  • Optimize the material planning process and flow through the through supply chain to meet customer requirements
  • Report and brief customers and multiple levels of leadership within the company to update on current production status
  • Communicate and collaborate with parties inside and outside of operations to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures
  • Provides input and drives team member development through daily coaching and performance management
  • Collaboratively works across the company with other business leaders to resolve issues

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance which requires US Citizenship
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production Planning leadership
  • Minimum of 5 years of strong Excel/ BI skills experience
  • 10 years or more experience with the following:
    • Material planning and production control in a low volume high mix operations environment.
    • Knowledge of material planning, staffing, scheduling, production processes and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
    • Managing, coaching, training, and motivating team in technical and leadership development.
    • The deployment and use of Lean and 6 Sigma manufacturing tools/methods with extensive knowledge in the implementation of Kanban systems
    • Project management and decision-making experience utilizing business and financial acumen
    • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office software package (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).
    • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

Preferred skills:

  • APICS Certified
  • 2 years of experience with electrical/electronic component manufacturing\
  • DELTEK Cost Point ERP / SAP utilization
