The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Manager, Program Management at our Missile Solutions Headquarters located in Huntsville, AL.  This is an opportunity to lead the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Solid Rocket Motor program (now known as Sentinel) as it goes through EMD and into production. This is a high profile program critical to the defense of our nation and our allies. We are looking for a dynamic leader to drive program success.

Essential Functions:

  • Assemble and lead multi-site, integrated product team (IPT) activities within the Program while interacting with functional teammates, management, suppliers, and customers to achieve program objectives.

  • Prepare program plans, coordinate cost estimates and manage Earned Value Management System (EVMS) for assigned program(s).

  • Ensure effective variance analysis and corrective actions are in place for all cost account managers.  

  • Lead multimillion dollar proposals compliant with internal policies and FAR regulations.

  • Negotiate contracts to best meet customer and company needs.

  • Serve as primary customer contact ensuring quality of all customer communications.

  • Prepare presentations and lead teams in presentations to peers, internal management, customers, and suppliers.

  • Support company strategic planning with monthly and quarterly financial assessments of program financials with risks to achieve plan and opportunities for improvement.

  • Manage direct and indirect team members providing mentorship and coaching to advance development of team.

Required Qualifications:

Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function. Typically has mastery within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas. Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

  • Candidate must also have demonstrated successful achievement of technical, cost and schedule goals, and extensive working knowledge of earned value management (EVM).

  • Requires working knowledge of project management methods within the defense acquisition environment including program planning, integrated master scheduling, budgeting, and earned value management.

  • Demonstrated abilities in team building, leadership and delegation skills to achieve project objectives are required.

  • Must have experience in leading, encouraging, reviewing and critiquing work of supporting team members to maximize program success.

  • Demonstrated ability to define and negotiate task objectives, scope description and completion criteria for specific and broad activities.

  • Ability to coordinate various activities simultaneously and to make real-time plan adjustments in response to problems and unexpected interim results.

  • This position requires excellent communication skills, self-motivation, strong leadership skills and the ability to handle and resolve complex problems with minimal guidance.

  • Must be proficient in the use of typical office computer programs for conduct of program management such as MS PowerPoint (presentations, logic diagrams), MS Project or similar scheduling tool to create simple project files, MS Excel (entering formulas, graphing, developing spreadsheets), and MS Word (tables, program plans).

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% and flexibility to work extended hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Existing SECRET level security clearance desired.

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering and/or MBA preferred.

  • Technical knowledge of solid rocket propulsion.

  • Knowledge of supply chain managment, lean manufacturing, assembly and testing procedures.

  • PMP certification or Project Management certificate.
