Job Title: Government Relations Intern
Job Location: Arlington, VA
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Government Relations (GR) intern to provide support on key projects during the Summer 2024. The selected candidate will become familiar with the aerospace and defense industry, as well as the L3Harris Government Relations team’s role in shaping congressional, executive branch, and thought leadership priorities and policy. The intern will have opportunities to learn more about policy, budgets, and regulations that impact domestic operations and our foreign customers. Preference will be given to candidates able to work full time; however those able to commit to 3 or more full days per week should still apply. This is an in-person role in Rosslyn, VA and candidates must be located in the greater Washington, DC area.
Job Description:
- Summarize relevant congressional hearings, executive branch reports, think tank webinars, and defense-industry events
- Research and track legislation from key congressional committees, including the Appropriations, Armed Services, Science, and Foreign Relations committees
- Draft preparatory materials for company executives, including biographies, agendas, and talking points documents
- Develop valuable skills, network, and gain exposure to Capitol Hill, the Department of Defense (DoD), the State Department (DoS), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as government affairs, Political Action Committees (PACs), regulation, and legislation supporting the national security domain
- Support Government Relations team initiatives, events, and other activities and assignments as needed
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, National Security, or related field
- GPA of 3.0 or greater
Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Interest in international cooperation, defense, aerospace, national security, government, and legislative affairs
- Experience working in a Congressional or Executive Branch office
