Job Schedule:9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 das – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off.
Job Description: The primary role of this position is to provide optical engineering supporton various aerospace programs. These programs utilize imaging systems ranging from UV to LWIR regions of the EM radiation spectrum. Engineering support is in the form of design/analysis and alignment/test of optical systems and components.
Essential Functions:
- Perform optical design and analysis on advanced telescopes, calibrators, unique optical test sets, and design trade studies
- Develop optical budgets and sensitivities including wavefront error, MTF, line of sight, and throughput.
- Perform analyses to show compliance to optical requirements and specifications for imaging systems, assemblies, component drawings, coatings, etc.
- Perform tolerancing analyses to assess manufacturability and optical alignment.
- Provide optical modeling, analysis and metrology support during system alignment, integration and testing.
- Perform other unique modeling tasks, such as: spectral tuning/splitting, polarization, phase retrieval, image simulation, etc.
- Support the development of optical technologies and architectural concepts to support the company’s current and new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Optics, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics with 0 to 1 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with Code V and/or Zemax software tools
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in optical design/modeling, systems trade studies, and analysis of remote sensing infrared and visible space qualified systems and components
- Experience in optical engineering or aerospace industry
- Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills
- Knowledge of FRED, MATLAB, Python
- Exposure to Systems Engineering standards, processes and disciplines
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $63,500 MIN - $117,500MAX. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
