Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Key member of team responsible for the management of product design integrity throughout its production life cycle (after full product launch)
  • Identify, incorporate and coordinate change to the product base line. Provide support to the Technical Authority.
  • Understand cause and effect of changes affecting program schedule, quality and cost
  • Demonstrate through project leadership behaviours of integrity, respect and excellence
  • Lead/Participate in project scrum(s), daily production cell team meeting(s), etc.
  • Participate in and/or generate NRE estimates for sustaining product design changes
  • Prepare design stage gate review package aligned to requirements detailed as per the new product introduction company standard
  • Responsible for presenting to various levels of cross-functional leadership in design reviews and various business meetings
  • Maintain project schedule(s) and overall build schedule to meet integrated master schedule milestones and or customer contract deliverable 
  • Participate in the management and/or technically manage the sustaining projects and provide monthly cost and schedule updates
  • Ensure the engineering manpower database accurately reflects the sustaining engineering demand for your projects
  • Manage smaller level loaded sustaining engineering activities for designated product
  • Support the monthly RIB meetings
  • Participate in the management and/or technically manage the reliability engineering projects and provide monthly cost and schedule updates
  • Support CSG repairs and upgrades
  • Coach junior team members on project management/manufacturing best practices, methodologies and lessons learned
  • Compliance with the companies Quality Management System

Skills Required

  • Good written and verbal communication
  • General understanding of electro/mechanical/optical/video systems sufficient to assess project   progress and variances from plan
  • Plan and organize work scope into a schedule of associated tasks and critical linkages
  • Maintain baseline cost estimates, assess actual performance and associated variances from plan
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft project (or equivalent), change management practices and production work flow including acceptance testing and non-conformance management
  • Working knowledge of mechanical drawing practices, bill of material structures and basic mechanical terminology
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuit design practices, circuit board assemblies and basic electrical terminology
  • Working knowledge of feedback control systems, video standards, grounding/bonding practices and motors/potentiometers/encoders and other electro mechanical devices
  • Working knowledge of optical assemblies, cameras and laser devices is an asset

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience, or
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, or
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a project management capacity managing complex projects
  • PMP Certification is an asset
  • P.Eng license is an asset
  • Experience presenting to executive and or senior leadership
  • Must have a well-rounded project management background with experience in a high tech environment
