Sr. Specialist, Continuous Improvement

Essential Responsibilities 

Work across all functional disciplines of the organization; focusing on transformational business improvements, operational excellence, and continually enhancing our improvement tool sets and methodologies. The ideal candidate is passionate about leading change, driving results, and promoting a culture of improvement.

  • Continuous Improvement Programs: Lead Gemba and 6S maturity assessment, training and improvements across the site.
  • Operational Excellence: Support teams in operational excellence journey through people engagement, facilitation of kaizen, and driving customer focus.
  • Opportunity Development: Collaborate with functional leadership to develop and define continuous improvement opportunities aligned with the organizations key results and objectives.
  • Facilitation: Ability to engage a cross-functional team through kaizen planning, facilitation and closure.
  • Process Analysis: Facilitate the collection, analysis and visualisation of existing process data aligned with the customer value stream to improve safety, quality, and cost.
  • Lean / Six Sigma: Application and coaching of lean & six sigma tools to eliminate waste and reduce process variation within project teams.
  • Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams in planning, execution and monitoring of improvement projects, ensuring timely completion and validated attainment of objectives.
  • Change Management:  Ensure successful adoption of change through effective management of the human side of change.
  • Training, Development and Learning: Provide coaching and mentoring to Lean Expert and Green Belt candidates, support and provide training of lean tools and methodologies, and identify self-development opportunities.
  • Contribute to Culture: Stay above the line while working with complex changes and conflict. Engage and contribute to the continuous improvement mindset.
  • Conflict Resolution:  Ability to identify, address and resolve conflicts that arise during cross-functional activities to minimize disruption, risk and sustain team cohesion, while fostering psychological safety and open collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional Certification considered an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification an asset - Green Belt Minimum
  • 5+ years’ experience in CI
  • Experienced in working with cross-organizational teams

  • Ability to work effectively and facilitate functional teams of all levels
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Action oriented and ability to make decisions
  • Data query and collection an asset
  • Data visualization an asset
