About the Role
The Specialist, Production Planning role establishes and maintains the strategic plan for their assigned product line which translates firm and forecast demand, as well as changes to same, into the time-bound action plans that our Supply Chain and Operations organizations execute against. This strategic plan ensures that we are buying and building the correct items at the correct times to ensure On-Time Delivery to Customer Contract Dates, On-Plan Revenue Recognition, and Inventories maintained at acceptable levels.
Tasks to be Accomplished
- Monitor and support the planning and overall Master Scheduling functions for assigned product line
- Actively participate in the daily Production meeting, helping to ensure alignment of efforts required to realize on time delivery against commitments and customer contracts
- Participate in the SIOP process, lead build plan change request review and provide feedback to demand management based on material availability status from supply chain for clear to build.
- Provide timely updates to the Program Management Office related to Customer Order commitments
- Create and maintain an accurate Master Production Schedule that meets all Revenue/Build Targets and Program Requirements
- Enter and maintain a forecast in the ERP system based off of the Demand skyline
- Update the MPS database on a daily basis
- Review Master Production Schedule and reconcile discrepancies
- Accountable for the activation and maintenance of Customer Orders to ensure MRP integrity is maintained and consistent with Build Plan and Customer commitments
- Provide critical information to all Stake Holders, where builds will not complete on time and could affect the ultimate Customer completion date for Master Scheduled items
- By analyzing the Material Availability reports for their assigned product line, take action to ensure that material will support Master Schedule requirements
- Provide guidance to Production Control with respect to daily/weekly release, monitor, and closure of WOs in support of Master Schedule attainment.
- Support Production Control in maintaining all WOs to ensure the highest level of accuracy at all times
- Support Production Control in co-ordination and negotiation of schedule recovery dates with Production Supervisors in support of on time WO completion and Master Schedule attainment.
- Actively participate in the ECO process by providing input required to help define effectivity and contribute to implementation planning while highlighting any Customer commitments that could be impacted as a result of the change
- Communicate and support Production Control in the execution of the ECO changes throughout the Operations organization
- Identify and mitigate potential impact that ECOs could have on planned production, customer commitments and revenue
- Identify and communicate impact of ECO, Demand, and Forecast Changes, feeding input into the SIOP process
- Liaise with upstream and downstream work centers in relation to ensuring successful completion of product to meet Customer demands
- Responsible for creating/maintaining factory calendar and control of material master setup/maintenance of make items (creating and maintaining lead times of planning BOMs).

- Experience in change management and must be innovative, adaptable and resourceful.
- 5 years of progressive experience in Master Scheduling within an ERP environment
- APICS Certification or working towards certification
- PC Skills (Microsoft Office suite, ERP systems, MES)
- Intimate understanding of ERP/MRP functionality, Inventory Planning/Management strategies, and Engineering Change management processes and methodologies
- Post-Secondary Education University or College Degree/Diploma
