Job Description:
- Works autonomously to achieve operational targets within specified job area which impacts overall achievement of the department.
- Responsible for performing the physical or administrative tasks supporting the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary.
- Within parameters, determines routing and arrangements for shipments, considering such factors as nature of items being shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, and cost.
- Consults rate schedule for specific rates depending on method of shipment and/or distance shipped.
- Assesses most economical and efficient common or contract carrier, to transport shipments.
- Calculates and records storage, redelivery, and other applicable charges.
- May reroute urgent shipments of an urgent nature or arrange for special delivery at destination.
- Prepares and maintains records of products shipped and tracks shipments.
- Receives incoming materials, unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices.
- Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications.
- Maintains records of received goods, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents.
- Stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.
- May operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, tow motors, forklifts, etc. upon receipt of internal certification.
- Knowledge of material handling procedures and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
- May perform wood shop functions such as operating power saws and nail guns in building skids and crates.
- Communicates with contacts typically within the department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to understand and reach agreement.
- Follows established processes to complete tasks.
- Must be able to lift and carry 32 lbs. This position required to comply with all safety requirements.
- Requires bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, turning, and pushing/pulling of heavy parts, standing or walking 80% of the time, ability to see with or without corrective lenses.
- Requires working overtime as needed.
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Requires developing job knowledge typically obtained through a combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with four (4) years of prior inventory/shipping experience.
- 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with zero (0) to two (2) years of prior inventory/shipping experience.
- US Citizenship required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with shop floor control along continuous improvement exposure is preferred.
- Experience with Shipping: Crating, Bill of Ladings, packaging materials to be shipped, computer skills, forklift experience.
- Experience in Inventory Control: Cycle Counts, pulling job orders, stocking materials.
- Forklift experience to load and unload trucks.
- Experience in receiving materials, understanding the fundamentals of checking materials, verifying counts and able to do inventory transactions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
