Coating Technician, WEEKEND SHIFT

Toronto, Ontario
Operate various thin film coating chambers and measuring equipment. Perform final preparation, loading & inspection of complicated optical elements.
Tasks
- Operate various types of thin film coating chambers
- Perform final preparation, loading and inspection of complicated optical elements
- Perform complicated maintenance, repair & troubleshooting of equipment
- Support the design of new tooling and fixtures for elements, chambers, and equipment
- Support the development of new manufacturing processes and make improvements to current manufacturing processes
Skills Required
- Understanding of principles of physics and chemistry
- Understanding of principles of vacuum chambers
- Understanding of principles of optical thin films
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
- Ability to safely handle delicate optical parts
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions
- Ability to read detailed drawings
- Ability to effectively operate complicated equipment such as coating chambers and associated equipment, spectrophotometers
Experience & Education Requirements
- Diploma in Photonics or Physical Sciences
- Experience in the field of thin film coatings, particularly in optical coatings
