Your new role

We’re looking for a Systems Engineering Industrial Placement to provide input to the design, implementation and testing of embedded and application projects in a real world engineering environment. This role provides fantastic opportunities to develop skills in technical and professional areas, gain an understanding of working environments and valuable experience whilst making a difference.
At L3Harris, in our Intelligence & Cyber International (ICI) division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies to shape and build cutting-edge solutions that combat the ever-evolving threats faced by the public and private sectors on a daily basis.
What you’ll be doing:
If you’re invited to join our team of dedicated experts, the responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Overviewing each stage of the product lifecycle to include, but not limited to; requirements capture and analysis, design, integration testing and systems testing for embedded systems, control and real-time applications.
- Documentation of design specifications and implementation details with guidance.
- Obtaining a good level of understanding for the system as a whole, in order to provide the most effective and appropriate solutions.
- Working as part of a team (including Systems, Hardware and Software Engineers) to discuss system designs, interfaces and protocols to identify and implement solutions.
- Guiding the integration of developed software, firmware and hardware to meet customer requirements.
- Devising appropriate test procedures, both informal and informal, to prove the correct operation of systems.
What you’ll bring:
- On track to achieve at least a 2:1 in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Physics
- A demonstrable passion for engineering and technology keeping up to date with latest innovations
- Strong interpersonal skills and a self-starter - able to work as part of a team as well as using your own initiative
- Willingness to learn and tenacious approach to problem solving
- Desire to pursue a rewarding career in the engineering and technology industry
