From 12 UK sites, our team of over 1,400 people deliver unique capabilities across air, land, sea, space and cyber for military, security and commercial customers, worldwide.

L3Harris in Tewkesbury and Fleet are part of our ICI division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies primarily in the areas of crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter drone capabilities and situation awareness projects.

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Communications Engineer to work on cutting edge enabling technology projects in Electronic Warfare and Cyber domains.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the research and development of new and novel EW and Cyber applications for the new L3Harris product portfolio. This role provides an opportunity to work with specialist developers taking low TRL, EW and Cyber research concepts right through to production. We are looking for candidates with vision, enthusiasm and a relevant technical background to influence a growing capability at L3Harris by bringing their unique portfolio of skills and knowledge to the team.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer or scientist, qualified as a specialist in an RF, DSP or communications technical discipline, but who may have been exposed to a wide range of different technologies through their work. The candidate must be comfortable working on low TRL research projects, and enjoy the challenge of working on new and emerging technologies.

What you’ll bring

The role of requires the following experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of digital and RF hardware, its limitations and the effects on system performance
  • Sound understanding of DSP theory with experience of algorithm development such as; Filtering, FFT’s, Channelisation, Signal Detection, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in RF and Communications Theory with experience of developing digital communications systems or sub-systems
  • Degree qualified in a STEM subject, with an understanding of Digital Signal Processing algorithms
  • Proficient user of MATLAB and Simulink
