Job Description:
As a Business Analyst, Sr. Specialist joining the Engineering Metrics team, you will apply the principles of your degree to assist with data mining and analysis activities in support of Corporate and Segment level engineering leading and lagging indicator improvement initiatives. This position is data-intensive; utilizing various systems to collect, analyze, and report on key metrics across the engineering organization. Responsibilities include developing Tableau and PowerBI dashboards and other visualization tools, gathering metric and process improvement requirements, understanding underlying data systems, developing workflows to ensure process controls manage key processes, and developing mechanisms for accessing and processing data.
Essential Functions:
- Work with metrics stakeholders to develop requirements for Tableau dashboards.
- Understand Tableau requirements and implement development dashboards for review.
- Provide updates to existing Tableau dashboards as needed.
- Develop new and maintain existing PowerBI dashboards for regular data collection and reporting to enable key decision-making activities.
- Build, run and automate data queries and reports with SQL, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, Sharepoint, Excel, PowerPoint
- Perform detailed data validation to ensure metric compliance with established definitions
- Understand data sources and logic to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely deliverables
- Prioritize and balance multiple activities and proactively communicate status to manage stakeholder expectations
- Partner with colleagues facilitating the design, build and automation of reports / dashboards that provide insight into engineering design development behavior.
- Identify and log data issues and work toward resolution
- Responsible for establishing goals, setting timelines and achievement of milestones.
- Verify accuracy of reports and provide insights
- Work with both internal and external data
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals
- Work with segment discipline leads to capture engineering metrics and ensure data integrity.
- Work jointly with IT and data analytics team to collect, analyze, and present engineering metrics
- Identify key performance indices to help with identifying potential issues.
- Create reporting templates and automated views to support reports for major engineering reviews
- Mature and expand foundational metrics
- Make recommendations for new metrics, including strategies to improve engineering based on data
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Experience using:
- Databases and Tableau or PowerBI tools
- MS Office products, with a focus on Microsoft excel and the ability to write macros
- SQL queries with the use of tools such as DBeaver
- Statistical analysis for data analysis, trend evaluation and/or reporting
- Microsoft Sharepoint database management
- Nintex Workflow and Forms proficiency
- Python programming language
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor of degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations, Business, Finance, Data Science, Statistics or equivalent
- Experience with executing and understanding metrics and key performance indicators
- Proven understanding of data types, programming logic, and queries.
- Ability to articulate the vision, characteristics, and benefits of corporate initiatives to segment leadership and executives
- Ability to implement and adapt project execution plans that will achieve technical, cost, and schedule requirements
- Strong data mining and modeling skills and is comfortable facilitating ideation and working from concept through to execution
- Can lead through influence, is data driven, comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive projects to completion
- Intermediate to advanced skills using Power BI, Excel formulas (VLOOKUP, IF statements, conditional formatting, charts), Visual Basic, SQL, and PowerShell.
- Graphical User Interface development with ASP.Net framework, C#/C+ programming languages
- Intermediate to advanced PowerPoint skills
- Exceptional presenting, communication, and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to influence and ensure forward progress
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Detailed oriented, self-starter, action oriented, “can do” attitude, resourceful, and team focused
